Role Overview The Lead Commercial Technician is responsible for conducting commercial site surveys, installing and maintaining network infrastructure, and leading field execution for customer installations and service work. This role ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards by coordinating with internal teams, customers, property management, and contractors. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in wireless and wired networking, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects while delivering a high-quality customer experience.
Primary Responsibilities
Review request for Site Survey and schedule the site survey with the appropriate requestor, customer, property manager or sales.
Take photos from various locations on the roof to confirm line of site to a base station or other On Net building
Verify roof penetration where cabling would enter the building
Verify cable path through any riser system or path as needed to bring the customer new service
Verify that there is available power for radio and router
Document the site survey showing complete cable path, equipment location, antenna mount location and any other site-specific requirements relevant to the task.
Install and route cabling from the rooftop to our MDF location.
Install and maintain both wireless and wired network equipment.
Troubleshoot network outages and service-impacting issues.
Perform radio alignments, equipment upgrades, and preventative maintenance.
Coordinate with dispatch, property management, contractors, and customers.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
Document completed work, materials used, and site conditions.
Participate in on-call and after-hours maintenance as required.
Skill and Knowledge Qualifications:
Excellent written and customer contact skills
Experience aligning Millimeter and microwave radios
Proficiency in ethernet and fiber troubleshooting.
Excellent skills dealing with internal customers
Ability to manage schedule and meet scheduled appointments
Ability to operate a digital camera and upload photos to a photo server
Familiar with data cabling and building riser systems
Must be able to climb ladders and work around building structures to obtain proper site survey results.
Manage multiple projects while maintaining deadlines.
